There are tons of generators on the market. As you will notice almost all of them use a Honda GX390 13 hp engine or a Honda Clone. I would say that more than 85% of all the generators most people purchase have Honda Clone engines on them. What is a Honda Clone? Most people do not realize that the same company in China that makes Honda parts for Honda also makes them under different names. Such as Lifan Engines. This is an example of such and engine. The parts are complete interchangeable with Honda. This same engine block is sold under 13, 15, and 16 Hp ratings. The factory calls this one a 15 Hp. The tendency for most consumers is to purchase generators that are too small. I really like this generator! It is the most generator we could find for the money! Many times this unit goes on sale with free shipping. I recommend to purchase one if such a sale is going on. Many times you can even avoid local sales tax. Yes it is a Honda clone but so are 85% off all generator brands and models. Add the Honda sticker to this machine and you will drive the price up another $400 or more. Another thing you will notice as you shop around for generators, is there is a big price jump after you leave/increase from the 16 hp Honda clone engine. The big engine block models cost a lot more. The electric start is a big plus as well as the lift up handles and built in wheels (no need to purchase a wheel kit). When you purchase generators under 16 hp, they will not have an oil filter. When you purchase a big block generator, it will have a replaceable spin on oil filter. I always recommend the use of synthetic oil in all generators.
